Ask for a CBI probe, Jagan dares Naidu

Says TD chief will be jailed for IMG, Emaar deals

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, APRIL 13

YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday challenged TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu to write a letter to the CBI asking it to inquire into the land allotted to IMG Bharata and Emaar when he was the CM.

If the CBI conducts an inquiry, Mr Naidu would go to jail, Mr Reddy said.

He was reacting to Mr Naidu’s remark that if he (Mr Naidu) was made CM, he would turn the state into a Singapore, but if Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy becomes CM, he will go to Chanchalguda jail.

Speaking to the media on Sunday at his residence, while releasing the YSRC manifesto, he alleged that 850 acres of land was allotted to Mr Naidu in the benami of IMG Bharata, without the knowledge of the Cabinet. He said the HC had asked the CBI to enquire into the allegations regarding land allotment to IMG, and the CBI had replied that it had no staff to conduct the inquiry. Consequently, Mr Naidu was never questioned in the matter. “Mr Naidu is an expert in managing the media and any agency, but I am not,” he said.

He accused Mr Naidu of making false promises to the people, as in the case of his assurance of a job for one person in every household. “Does he know how many houses are in the state? There are 3.5 crore houses in the state. A job for one person in each house means there will be 3.5 crore employees. After 60 years of Independence, there are only 20 lakh government employees. When Naidu was the CM for nine years he closed down 65 companies and 26,000 employees were thrown on to the roads.”
