- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, NOV. 3

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu said the Telugu Desam will remain “indestructible”. Launching the Telugu Desam membership drive on Monday at the party headquarters, Mr Naidu said that he was the first one to sign up for the party.

Addressing the party leaders and workers, Mr Naidu said that for each person who quits the TD, hundred new ones will join. He added that the the party will organise a membership drive every two years and strive to mould its cadre into efficient leaders.

The TD launched, what it claims, is the first online party membership drive in the country. The party has set a target of enrolling 25 lakh active members in AP and Telangana State. The online membership drive is the brainchild of TD youth leader Nara Lokesh. Mr Lokesh said a web-enabled tablet would be given to every leader in each mandal and the leaders will visit villages and enroll new members.

Speaking to the media, Mr Lokesh said that if TS CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao were to hold a meeting in Vijayawada, all he is likely to do is abuse the AP CM. Criticising Mr Rao for copying every scheme announced by the AP government, Mr Lokesh said that after Mr Naidu announced a water grid, the TS CM too made a similar announcement.

He said farmers in AP are happy with the increasing land values after Mr Rao divided AP. Mr Lokesh pointed out that as Mr Rao has announced that the Hussainsagar lake will be cleaned, he should, drink the first glass of water from the lake after cleaning it.
