- DC CORRESPONDENT

In an embarrassment for Delhi Police, the National Investigation Agency has given a clean chit to Liaqat Shah who had been arrested by it on the charges of terrorism.

The NIA has named a “source” of Delhi Police special cell, Sabir Khan, as the main accused for allegedly planting weapons on Mr Shah to project him as a Hizbul militant.

The NIA sought permission from the MHA to carry out probe against two police officials for allegedly “conspiring” against Mr Shah. He was arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police in 2013 while he was returning from PoK to Kashmir Valley via Nepal. The NIA stated that Mr Shah was coming into India to obtain the benefit of the surrender policy of the J&K government.
