Vinay beats Raghav, in sole lead

Matta Vinay Kumar scored an impressive win to take his tally to five points and emerged the outright leader after the fifth round of the all-India open Fide rating chess tournament, being played at St Ann’s Degree College for Women at Mehdipatna­m in Hyderabad.

Vinay defeated Raghav Srivastav in the fifth round to grab the sole lead. Sharan Rao, Anilkumar O.T., Ram S. Krishnan, Sai Agni Jeevitesh J. and Sandeep Naidu share the second spot, having earned 4.5 points after the fifth round. Grandmaste­r R.R. Laxman has 4 points after a draw with D. Ashraf Subhani.
