Winston Churchill dead
London, Jan. 24 Sit Winston Churchill died shortly after 8 am (1.30 IST) today. He was 90 years and 55 days old.
He is to be given a state funeral and a lying-in-state, and is expected to be buried beside his parents in an English country churchyard, near Blenheim Palace, in Oxfordshire where he was born.
His family stood at his bed side, at 28, Hyde Park Gate — his London Home — as the great war time leader finally surrendered to the stroke which paralysed him almost a fortnight ago.
The end came calling peacefully. He never awakened from the coma in which he had lain since he was stricken.
Churchill died as he has always lived — a commoner. But his death was like the death of a king.
