GREATEST ENGLISHMAN

President Radhakrishnan today described the late Sir Winston Churchill as “the greatest Englishman we have known.”

In a message to Queen Elizabeth sent within minutes of Sir Winston’s death, the President said his unforgettable services would be cherished by the world “for centuries.”

Dr Zakir Hussain, Vice-President, said: “One of the great ones of all times has departed. He is too near for us to realise the full significance of his contributions for the world as it is today. It is given to a few to make such a mighty contribution.”
