NO CHILD’S PLAY
At another session on children’s books on coming of age, publisher Radhika Menon and author Suniti Namjoshi spoke about homogenising children’s literature and the importance of exposing children from different backgrounds to each other. Radhika explained why as a publication she has been wary about accepting manuscripts from children. “I think the main reason we don’t do it yet is because we are not sure how much role a parent has played in tweaking those manuscripts,” she says. Suniti added in good humour, “We have to give our children the best of what we have done because we have done it very badly.”
