Faulty Merc delivered

‘It was not safe to drive the car on the highways’

- Dr Shalini Soni and Dr Jeetender Soni

24 August: Saw car in showroom 29 August: Booked car asking the showroom to give non-display vehicle. Assured by Mr Taheer that sales department would get one from Pune. 31 August: Took delivery. Same day complained about bonnet pop up coming inspite of the bonnet closed. Advised by Aadhishwar staff to bang the bonnet to close. Strange tip. 1 October: Went to showroom and the display CAR WAS MISSING. Then gave my vehicle for repair of electronics. 5 October: On the way back from Bengaluru tyre punctured. No pop up of tyre going flat.

Direct display of tyre flat. We were in the middle of nowhere in a village. Called for On Road Assistance and found out that chassis number of car wrong on temporary registration.... somehow traced the true number to find out that the vehicle is not registered. ORA said that we bought the vehicle from unregistered dealers. 6 October: Called Merc. Mr Anand was sent for technical evalu- ation. He the DGM (Sales) suggested us to go with a DRIVER so that we don’t face such problems in future. Husband gone for puncture repair and me and my 2 kids and on Highway alone! Same day inspection showed hot engine. No display AND bonnet open but no display? 7 October: Received mail to send vehicle to workshop 8 October: Received mail that driver would come next day 9 October: I called and mailed as no driver came till 5 pm. 10 October: Vehicle picked up. AT 4:30 called, no response. 8:20 mail if no response then police complain. DON’T I HAVE THE RIGHTS TO KNOW ABOUT MY CAR’S WHEREABOUTS? Got call immediately saying Mr Dominic has gone for a test drive at 6.30 am and

that he will not be back by 8.20 pm. Mail from Merc at 10 pm. Said about an additional problem of oil leak. ONE MORE ISSUE IN A MONTH AND HALF OLD CAR.

11 October: Car back home. 13 October: Car back to workshop

15 October: Car back to workshop with a promise by Miss Annette and Mr

Dominic that it would be back in two days.

17 October: Again no proper correspondence.

18 October: Car delivered home

20 October: I asked for details of job done and a surety was given for my car.PDI {predelivery inspection} was done for car delivered one and a half month ago.

18 January, 2015: Took my car to NIZAMABAD to be in trouble again. My ABS lights showed error in car. Asked for towing as ORA said it was unsafe to drive. Asked for cab and a person to take charge of my vehicle keys as towing would take time. The cab arrived but the person in-charge of keys didn’t. Called Mr Dominic who sent a message saying that car could still be driven if speed wouldn’t go beyond 70. Left with no option we drove back the car.

19 January: Upon inspection a new defect was found in the car. I could see two more but they said it was insignificant as only concerned problem is looked for.

My query is that if this car is not fit for highway driving there should be a statutory warning. An almost 5month-old car has gone for repairs so many times and is due for repairs again. I think Aadhishwar Motors has given a showroom DISPLAY defective piece. Spending so much of money and delivering products worse than other cars which cost one fifth the Merc price is nothing but cheating.

Pre-delivery checks ● Wonder if pre-deliv

ery inspection was done for my car. For the next three months, there was some respite from problems and I

had a smooth ride.

● I found that the display unit in the car was defective. It was showing that the bonnet was open even when it was closed. The staff suggested that I close the bonnet.
