Two goals on either side of the half-time break saw the City College Old Boys register a thumping 4-0 win against APSRTC in the Rahim Football League, being organised by the Andhra Pradesh Football Association in the twin cities.

CCOB were the more aggressive side right from the start. They almost scored their opening goal in the first couple of minutes when they effected a brilliant break, but the ball went just wide of goal.

They did go ahead just a few minutes later. In the eighth minute, Esa punched through the APSRTC defence, chipped the ball past a befuddled goalkeeper and made it 1-0 for CCOB.

APSRTC tightened their defence and rebuffed more attempts on goal. But they caved under the relentless onslaught by CCOB, who doubled their lead in the 34th minute.

A long ball from the left flank found Niyaz in the perfect position, and he fired the ball in at point-blank range.

CCOB then adopted a more sedate approach and saw out the remainder of the half.

Hostilities resumed after the teams came back onto the pitch, this time with APSRTC making a few scoring attempts of their own. However, the CCOB defenders were up to the task.

CCOB trebled their tally in the 54th minute and pushed the match out of APSRTC’s reach.

Azeem, who gained possession, managed to shake off his marker and sprinted towards the goal, where he volleyed in a beautiful cross.

APSRTC’s misery quadrupled 23 minutes later, this time through Elias. Quickfire passing took the ball well into the APSRTC half. Elias, who suddenly found the field open, scored a long-ranger.
