AYURVEDA AND ASTROLOGY
Ayurveda is also called the Indian science of life. While we commonly associate Ayurveda with herbal concoctions and Indian medicine, it is far more than that. Ayurveda believes that what nourishes you can also destroy you. Good health is a manifestation of balance, and imbalance manifests itself negatively as a disease until balance is restored. Like astrology, Ayurveda classifies personalities on the basis of an element called a dosha. The air signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius will identify with the airy Vatta and the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius will resonate with the fiery Pitta. Ayurveda collectively bunches Earth and Water together as Kapha which includes Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. Remember, that you may be a combination of more than one element and may identify with a dosha other than one related to your star-sign. VATTA, the element of Air Vatta personalities are usually tall and thin and have trouble gaining weight. They are indecisive and restless and may have anxiety issues. Their skin is dry and hair brittle.
Meditation is very beneficial to Vatta as it balances the air element. Eat moderate, healthy meals and create regularity in your daily routines. Reduce your consumption of caffeine and cigarettes as you are especially prone to using addictions as a means to escape worries. PITTA, the element of Fire Pitta has regal features and muscular builds. They can gain weight and then lose it equally so. Their skin is oily and their hair has a reddish-brown tint. They are dominating and are easy to anger. Cool your inner fires by consuming juices and salads and avoid spicy, overcooked food. Always be contemplative and think before you react to situations. Try bathing in cool or lukewarm water as far as possible. KAPHA, the elements of Earth and Water Kapha is short and sturdy and with strong bones. They have a good build and lose weight with great difficulty due to a slow metabolism. They have thick, lustrous hair and healthy, glowing complexions.
A kapha imbalance usually manifests as lethargy and fatigue. Avoid heavy meals and have lighter snacks at greater frequencies. Clear the clutter around you and exercise regularly to avoid inertia.
