Hema’s eyes on Mathura
Malini shares her Actress and MP Hema of her plans for the development constituency, Mathura
Hema Malini, the MP of Mathura, is leaving no stone unturned to enhance tourism in her constituency. To showcase the socio- cultural nuances of the historical town, she is organising a two-day Mathura Mahotsav, on April 11 and 12.
“Mathura is a beautiful place. I want people from all over the world to come and be the part of Krishna janmbhoomi. We are inviting people from all over the world for the festival,” she says, adding, “Efforts are being made towards a garbage-free Mathura. We have different steps in mind, and soon Mathura will be another feather in PM Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.”
Her daughter Esha will be performing in the festival too. Hema, who says that Esha has always been like a son to her, adds, “I am happy that both my daugh
ters are settled. Now I can devote my time in Mathura.
“Esha has always walked shoulder to shoulder with me, extending her fullest support to me. In the Mathura festival too, she will perform a solo dance. I will just do a “Vandana” dance, only for five minutes. Many singers and celebrities from Bollywood will also perform.”
She adds that she also has plans of opening a music and dance academy in Mathura, especially for girls.
Besides the cultural aspect of her constituency, Hema Malini is also concerned about the health and hygiene of the people. She has constructed toilets in Rawaal, a village that she has adopted, but says that she needs to raise more funds to build more all over Mathura.
“I have started building a maternity hospital as women often give birth without medical facilities, in unhygienic conditions. By the end of this year, we will surely achieve our aim, to provide hygienic medical facilities to them.”
Hema adds that Dharmendra will visit Mathura on one of the days of Mathura Mahotsav.
