TS may add state fest to school calendar; all eyes on court

1. Junior colleges have also been asked to open by June 1, in time for the state Formation Day celebratio­ns. The original academic schedule for junior colleges issued last May by the Board of Intermedia­te Education (BIE) had allowed junior colleges to reopen early.

The government has also asked schools to prepare students for an extravagan­za on June 2.

“Schools have been asked to prepare students for various cultural activities. But it is not just cultural events that are being planned. They will also have to hold classes for students on the history of Telangana,” a senior official of the Education department said.

The last fortnight of the term, before the holidays begin, were to be used for this.

Private schools had opposed the govern

ment’s decision to advance the final exams of Class 1 to 9 from April 15 to April 1. A case has also been filed in the High Court in this regard. The case has been posted to Monday. The government will also be keenly watching the High Court’s verdict in

this matter.

In any case, the government will have to adjust the academic schedule to allow schools to reopen by June 1. Junior colleges have also been asked to open by June 1, in time for the state Formation Day celebratio­ns.
