Road block in Alwal obstructin­g traffic

Many colonies are closing public roads in the name of security. Outsiders can enter these roads only if they have a pass issued by the colony associatio­n. This practice has spread to Madhavi Colony and JJ Nagar Colony which houses the kin of the ex-mayor of Hyderabad and the Malkajgiri MLA.

The constructi­on of a new gate at Ganesh Bakery, JJ Nagar Colony, Alwal, is blocking the road and is infringing on the free movement of commuters. What is more appalling is taht security reasons being cited.

A bakery owner supports the move to close down the M.R. Krishna Road till Satya Petrol Pump, saying it is best for the colony as this road has become a stretch for rash driving and chain snatching.

I wonder how people can travel between colonies if borders are erected at will. I recently shifted from Yapral as the Army had put restrictio­ns in AOC area.
