A delightful certification

- Margarita With A Straw SUNNY LEONE

Sunny Leone is currently in one of her best phases of her Bollywood career. There was a time when she was brushed off as someone with a great body but no talent. But not any more. Ahead of the release of Ek Paheli Leela, Sunny is smug in the knowledge that she has proved her detractors wrong.

“This role (in Ek Paheli Leela) will surely prove them wrong. My character in the film has different shades. As a girl from London, I wear short skirts etc. And then when I go to Rajasthan and fall in love; I don the avatar of a princess,” says Sunny.

She says she loved portraying Leela. “I loved the character of Leela. It was the most difficult role to portray. It took me almost six hours to prepare for the role.”

And the actress does not have an insecure bone in her body. “Otherwise I would have already bid adieu to Bollywood,” she says, adding, “I am very determined, hard working and sincere in whatever I do. If I was bothered about what people said about me, I would have packed my bags and gone home by now. I believe success comes with determination and perseverance.”

Reminiscing a bad phase in the industry, she adds, “I remember when Jackpot had not done well, my husband and I were in London. This was before Baby Doll. We were discussing what to do as my career was not taking off in Bollywood… But I did not want any other option… I wanted to act. However, I was also aware of the fact that we had to have a second option. “We are also into investing in property. We had bought a few properties in the US and we could always fall back on them.” On a different note, while speaking about her secret of looking gorgeous, Sunny says, “You need to do a lot of exercise. When you feel good from within, your skin shines. Your mind, body and heart need to go hand in hand, i.e. you should always be clam and do things that appeal to you the most. The camera always puts on an extra 10 kg to your actual weight, so in this profession we need to keep fit.”

Sunny’s husband Danny, too, is now dabbling in acting and she is taking it in her stride. “I was surprised, not shocked. One day he brought this to my notice stating, ‘I have got an acting offer’. He is learning Hindi for his character. I will definitely support him like he did for me,” she says.
