VIZAG MAN IS NAMED NEW AAP LOKPAL

- DC CORRESPONDENT VISAKHAPATNAM, MARCH 30

His appointment as ‘Lokpal’ of the AAP came as a surprise to former IPS officer N. Dilip Kumar, a resident of Vizag. The AAP has announced that Mr Kumar has been picked to replace the former navy chief, Admiral L. Ramdas (retd) at the AAP Lokpal. Mr Kumar was the anti-corruption adviser of the previous AAP government.

As chief of the Delhi Police, anti-corruption wing, N. Dilip Kumar was popular for his sting operations on corrupt officials. Asked about his new role as Lokpal of AAP, Mr Kumar said he would be impartial as head of the panel of three members that was appointed in place of Adm. Ramdas. “It came as surprise to me. Of course I am still awaiting official communication from the party. I have been associated with the anti-corruption campaign and activities for some time but was never a member of the AAP,” Mr Kumar, who settled in Vizag after his retirement, said. The former IPS officer had recently launched an anticorruption movement in the port city called “Anti Bakasura Brigade”. He was creating an active working group to create awareness among the people about corruption. “I will be as impartial as possible. I have learnt that there has been lot of damage been done to the party since a year or so by certain persons,” he said. Meanwhile, amid speculation that rebel Aam Aadmi Party leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav may float a new party, the two leaders have convened a meeting of their supporters on April 14 to chart out their future course of action.
