Amit Shah slams minister for farmer suicides remark

Disapproving of controversial remarks by Haryana’s agriculture minister O.P. Dhankar, who said farmers who committed suicide were “cowards”, BJP president Amit Shah said on Thursday that party leaders should refrain from such comments. Mr Shah reacted as the Opposition took up the issue in Parliament, asking what action the Prime Minister would take.

Mr Shah, addressing the media on the party membership drive touching around 10.5 crores and the BJP emerging as the largest party in the world, said these remarks were the minister’s personal views.
