BRITS RAISE £19M FOR NEPAL IN 1 DAY
The British public and the government raised £19 million in one day for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Nepal. The people donated over £14 million to
the Disasters Emergency Committee Nepal Earthquake Appeal, matched by another £5 million by the UK government in one day after it was
launched on April 28. DEC chief executive Saleh Saeed
said, Donations for Nepal have exceeded the amounts raised in the first day of campaigning for the Philippines
Typhoon, the East Africa Crisis, the Haiti Earthquake and the Pakistan floods. The
funds will help scale up efforts to reach more of the
affected people.
