Sathwika eyes Jr French Open spot

-

New Delhi: Hyderabad’s Sathwika Sama is eyeing a Junior French Open wild card but first, she will have to beat national winners from Brazil and China in the play-off matches at ‘Rendez-Vous’. National winners of the tournament — a Roland Garros initiative — from India, Brazil and China will play each other in a round-robin format. A player will have to beat two other players to win the wild card for the junior French Open. If none of the three players succeed in winning two matches (each player gets one win and one defeat), the wild card winner will be designated based on the set average. If there is a tie between players, the wild card winner will be designated based on the game average. If there still is a tie between players, the wild card winner will be the winner of a match between the two players. The matches will be played on May 24. The 15-year-old from Hyderabad had beaten Jennifer Luikham 6-3, 6-4 to win the Indian girls’ competition.
