SIX CHILDREN HURT AS BUS OVERTURNS

Six people including four children were injured seriously when a school bus overturned near Shadnagar in Mahbubnaga­r district on Friday. The mishap occurred when the driver tried to overtake a truck and lost control.

Police said the school bus belonging to Netaji High School picked up children from nearby villages. The bus had nearly 50 students although its capacity is just 35.

When the bus reached Ellampally culvert the driver tried to overtake a truck. “He lost control, the rear tires of the bus burst and it turned upside down. Two teachers and four students suffered serious injuries while others suffered minor injuries,” said Kondurgu SI Madhusudha­n.

Locals, who saw the accident rushed to the spot and helped the students to come out of the bus. The victims were shifted to Shadnagar Government Hospital. Bus driver Bheemaiah is absconding.

In another incident at Ramayampet in Medak, an RTC bus fell from a culvert, seriously injuring six persons. The victims were returning to Hyderabad after attending Pushkaralu in Basara.

“There were 28 passengers in the bus. The driver might have lost control. He rammed the culvert railing and fell off,” said Ramayampet DSP Venkateshw­arlu.

Locals, who saw the accident rushed to the spot and helped the students to come out of the bus. The victims were shifted to Shadnagar Government Hospital.
