Allrounder Revanth runs riot

Balaji, Meher and Varaprasad too shine in third division cricket league

K. Revanth Sai turned in a brilliant allround performanc­e to hog the limelight on Friday at the Hyderabad Cricket Associatio­n’s third division league matches played here.

Captain Revanth led from the front to take a five-wicket haul and then smashed a double century as Visaka drew their twoday match against State Bank of India.

Coming in at first change, the right-arm mediumpace­r returned with figures of 23-6-82-5 as SBI were all out for 268 runs, 143 short of Visaka’s first innings total of 411, which was built on centuries from Thakur Balaji Singh (141) and JLN Meher Prasad (122).

Later, coming in to bat at the fall of first innings centurion and opener Balaji Singh for a first-ball duck, Revanth plundered 263 at a furious pace, embellishi­ng his 182-ball knock with 30 boundaries and 11 sixes.

The double centurion was involved in a mammoth 309-run partnershi­p for the third wicket with Meher Prasad, who followed up his century in the first innings with 82 in 99 balls with the help of six boundaries and two sixes as Visaka blasted the Bankmen to rattle up 386 for 5 in just 50.2 overs in their second innings.

In another game, offspinner TSS Varaprasad turned in a match-winning spell of 13.1-3-41-5 for Postal against Brothers XI, who were bundled out for a mere 114 in their second innings. Postal overhauled the target losing just two wickets to canter home. Brief scores: THIRD DIVISION LEAGUE
