Hyderabad Sky turns gloomy

Hosts Hyderabad Sky suffered a shocking 77-90 loss at the hands of Chennai Slam in match-13 of the UBA Pro Basketball League being played at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.

Riding on some brilliant individual performanc­es from young Patil and Vijay, Hyderabad Sky were off to an early lead of 10-5 in just four minutes into the game. Patil from the hosts’ side was brilliant on the court and a couple of three-pointers from him extended the lead further. However, Chennai Slam came back strong with some good play from Raja and Agu. At the end of first quarter, Hyderabad Sky held on to a slender lead at 29-26.

The Second quarter started on a disastrous note for the hosts who committed multiple faults. Additional­ly, some brilliant shooting from Ady and Cammy ensured Chennai Slam took a five-point lead in just three minutes into the quarter. Chennai Slam had great success with their three-pointers. Hyderabad Sky had no answers to the pace set by their opponents, who led 48-38 at half-time.

Third quarter saw Chennai Slam consolidat­e their position. While Cammy continued to score the three-pointers, everyone else in the side had great shooting success. Hyderabad Sky failed to utilise the opportunit­ies that came their way in form of free throws due to the faults committed by Chennai. The hosts failed to convert five free throws.

Both sides went all out in the final quarter. Hyderabad Sky saw better shooting success in the final minutes of the game with Suchith Reddy, Patil and Vijay scoring to apply pressure on the opposition. However, the hosts failed to find answers to the three-pointers of Chennai Slam who won the match with ease.

In another match, Bengaluru Beast edged out Pune Peshwas 79-78. T.J. Sahi was the star player for Benguluru scoring 17 points.
