City gears up for Karting rush

The city is gearing up to host the second round of the JK Tyre FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championsh­ip to be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Leonia Holistic Destinatio­n in Hyderabad.

Over 44 karters in three categories — micro max (7-12 years), junior max (13-15 years) and senior max (15 years and above) — will compete at the Chicane circuit, which is 1.2 kilometers length, 8.5 kms in width and has 12 corners.

In the second round, the karters will race on new Evo Max engines — which was introduced this year to enhance driver’s performanc­e — under the floodlight­s.

The heats and qualifying rounds will be held from 4pm on Saturday and the final races will be held on Sunday.

Team Meco racing is currently leading the championsh­ip as three of it’s karters Shahan Ali Mohsin (micro max), Akash Gowda (junior max) and Vishnu Prasad (senior max) emerged winners at the end of the first round.

The weekend championsh­ip’s line-up will also see drivers such as Vishnu Prasad, Ameya Bafna, Chittesh Mandody, Dhruv Mohite, Yash Aradhya, Nayan Chatterjee, Mira Edra, Akash Gowda and Ruhan Alwa compete in various categories.

The overall winner in the junior max and senior max category after five rounds will represent India at the World Karting Finals to be held in Portugal in the month of November.
