TEJA, JAWEED TOP BOWLERS

M. Teja of Budding Stars was the star performer with the ball, taking 11 wickets as they drew their match with Visaka in a Hyderabad Cricket Associatio­n two-day Plate Division league match played in Hyderabad.

Left-arm spinner Teja bowled a brilliant spell to take 5/37 as Visaka were bowled out for 220 in 51.5 overs in their first innings.

In reply, Budding Stars were bundled out for 208 in 78.4 overs, conceding a lead of 12 runs. Revanth Sai was the pick of the bowlers for Visaka with 5/83.

Teja continued his wicket-taking form in the second innings when he picked 6/58. Visaka declared their innings at 142/8.

The match was declared a draw when Budding Stars reached 74/4 in 23 overs.

In another match, Syndicate Bank’s M.A. Jaweed bowled a superb spell to scalp six wickets as his side defeated Apex CC by an innings and 33 runs.

Jaweed’s match-winning spell of 6/56 was instrument­al in Apex CC being bowled out for 145 in 24.2 overs in their second innings. Batting first, Apex could make just 129 in 27.4 overs. Yadaiah was the top-wicket taker for Syndicate Bank with 3/41.

Syndicate Bank then went on to score 308 in 68 overs. Ibrahim Siddiqui was the top-scorer for the team with 78 and was wellsuppor­ted by Wasim Ali, who made 77. Much was expected from Apex batsmen in their second innings but wickets kept falling thanks to Jaweed’s incredible bowling. Visaka 220 in 51.5 overs (Sai Keerth 48, Revanth Sai 49, Ranga Babu 48, M. Teja 5/37) & 142/8 decl. in 33.4 overs (Jaffer 52, M. Teja 6/58) drew with Budding Stars 208 in 78.4 overs (Rahul K. Vyas 64, Subhajit Nag 69, Mehar Prasad 3/6, Revanth Sai 5/83) & 74/4 in 23 overs (Ankith Agarwal 38).
