Woman accuses lawyer of cheating

A 29-year-old manager of an advertisin­g agency has approached the police alleging she was cheated by an advocate who had promised to marry her.

Mr K. Rajashekar Reddy, whom she had come to know while staying at his uncle’s house on rent, had promised to marry her but had later dumped her and is now about to marry someone else.

The woman, who completed her MBA from a university in Malaysia, stated in her complaint that she had come to India in 2011 after she fell in love with a friend, who was then working in Australia. After they both came to India, he had promised to marry her. Believing him, she had given him her gold jewellery and `2 lakh cash. But he took them and disappeare­d.

Unable to go back to her parents, she was staying separately at a rented flat in Saidabad that was owned by an advocate, Mr K. Raji Reddy. While staying at the flat, she met Mr Reddy’s nephew, Mr K. Rajashekar Reddy, who was studying law at that time. The two became friends, which developed into love. Later when Mr Rajashekar Reddy promised to marry her, they entered into a physical relationsh­ip.

Rudraram near Patancheru and he never returned. Even after going, he was in touch with me and always assured that he would marry me,” the victim stated in her complaint. Meanwhile, his aunt started abusing her and asked her to leave Mr Rajashekar.

“I got suspicious and asked him if his family was trying to get him married elsewhere, but he denied that. But a few days ago, he informed me that his parents did not accept me and his marriage was fixed with another girl, and his engagement was also performed on Sunday,” the victim said. She said that she later tried to go to Rudraram to meet his parents, but she was intercepte­d midway at Chandanaga­r by his relatives who asked her to get out of his way. “Most of his relatives are advocates and have political contacts,” she said.

A case for criminal Intimidati­on and cheating has been registered. “We are checking the facts,” said SI K. Vijay Raju.
