I WILL BE CM AFTER 2019 POLLS: JANA

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Congress Legislature Party leader K. Jana Reddy on Friday said that he will become the Chief Minister if the Congress comes to power in TS.

“If the party comes to power, I will be the CM. I am confident of Congress coming to power in the 2019 general elections. Congress got Independence and Telangana state. People will back the Congress,” he said in Nalgonda.

Stating that the party would protect its cadre and leaders, Mr Jana Reddy reminded all that the Congress achieved Independence after a protracted struggle and granted statehood to Telangana.

He condemned the hike in the power tariff and bus fares and demanded the government reverse the decision since it would cause huge hardships to the people.

In Hyderabad, PAC chairman and senior Congress leader J. Geetha Reddy demanded the Speaker disqualify her party MLAs Chittam Ramamohan Reddy, Puvvada Ajay and other defectors to the TRS. “It’s surprising that the Speaker is not taking action against defectors,” she said.

Ms Geetha Reddy and another Congress MLA Sampath met the Speaker and sought action against the MLAs who defected to TRS from the Congress and other parties. “Supreme court is hearing a petition on July 1 on defections. We expect justice,” she said.

Senior Congress leaders Dr Mallu Ravi and Dr Chinna Reddy alleged that the TRS government was “pro-contractor, pro-rich and pro-business”.

They demanded immediate rollback of the hike in power tariff and bus fares. “The government is imposing a burden of `1,800 crore on the common man,” they said.
