WHEN PULLAIAH returned home drunk on Saturday evening he was beaten to death by his wife and her lover, police said

Hayathnagar police nabbed a 25-year-old housewife, Pravallika, and her 16-year-old paramour, her nephew, while transporting the body of her husband, Pullaiah, on a twowheeler. Earlier, their affair was taken to community elders and they had advised them to stay away from the village.

On September 7, Pullaiah and Pravallika shifted to Hyderabad and were staying at a rented flat in LB Nagar.

Police said Pullaiah became depressed and took to drinking, and the couple quarrelled regularly. Amid this, the boy turned up at their home. When Pullaiah returned home drunk on Saturday evening, he was beaten to death.

Pravallika asked neighbour Suresh for his bike and along with the boy was taking the body to Kodada when they were seen by a police patrol at Pedda Amberpet.

Pullaiah’s legs were being dragged on the road and his head was resting on the boy’s shoulder.

Suspecting foul play, they chased the bike, intercepted them and realised that they were carrying a dead body.

On questioning, they said Pullaiah was found dead on a road near their house on Saturday evening due to heavy drinking and as they had no money they were carrying his body on a bike. On further questioning they found that the duo had killed Pullaiah. Police also found injuries on Pullaiah’s head and groin.

“We have registered a case under 174 CrPC (suspicious death) and sent the body for autopsy. Based on the report, we will alter the case and proceed,” Hayathnagar Inspector, J Narender Goud said.
