Abhay Chopra intends to change the killer’s identity A remake of B.R. Chopra’s 1969 thriller featuring Sona and Sid will have a fresh script

The new version of B.R. Chopra’s 1969 thriller, Ittefaq, is in the works now. The movie, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha, promises to be completely different from the original.

Reliable sources have told us that the new, original version will be completely revamped, including changing the identity of the killer. Says the source, “Every movie buff has seen the original Ittefaq, which was produced by the legendary B.R. Chopra and directed by his brother Yash Chopra. It was a pathbreaking suspense thriller with a sterling performance by Rajesh Khanna, who played a disturbed fugitive on the run, who seeks shelter in a home where a woman is all alone in the house.” The 1969 movie completely changed actress Nanda’s image from a goody-goody angelic heroine to a killer. The film’s rehauling will see a new killer being revealed in the end.

“B.R. Chopra’s son, Abhay Chopra, intends to change the killer’s identity in the new Ittefaq,” says the source adding, “It doesn’t make sense to have the same killer because then, everyone would know the suspense beforehand. That’s certainly not something one wants.” Also, while the original

Ittefaq was a revolutionary thriller sans songs, the new one will have songs as part of the background score.
