Decisions taken by the GHMC sanitation wing. Charges for door-to-door garbage collection has to be collected only by authorised institutio­n/ person of each ward/area. The rates will be advertised by the institutio­n/ person and the rates will be displayed on the rickshaw trolley and auto tipper. Authorised institutio­n or person will be identified by name on the rickshaw or tipper. Vehicles used for transport of solid waste are to be closed so that the waste is not visible to the public and scattered.

VIOLATORS WILL PAY HEAVILY

`500: Delivering waste that is not segregated into wet, dry, hazardous, sanitary and medical, and stored in separate bins. `1,000: For non-composting by bulk generators or in new constructi­ons within 3 months. 1,000: For not delivering garden waste, tree ` trimmings as specified. `500: For disposal of waste by burning. `500: For a vendor/hawker without a container/waste basket and who does not deliver waste in a segregated manner. Forfeiture of cleanlines­s deposit: For littering by pets or owned animals. `1,000: Throwing waste water, muddy water, night soil, dung, excreta from a building. `200: For urinating in public places. 25%: Increase in fine for repeat offence. GHMC may cancel the trade licence and other permission­s in case of continued littering.

WHAT IT COSTS

USER CHARGES FOR COLLECTING GARBAGE `50: For households. `500: Commercial establishm­ents, shops, eateries, sweet shops, coffee houses. `750: Unstarred hotels, guest houses. `500: Hostels. `1,500: Hotel restaurant­s up to 3 stars. `3,000: Hotel restaurant­s over 3 stars. 700: Government, bank, insurance offices, ` coaching classes, educationa­l institutio­ns. `400: Clinics, dispensary, laboratori­es. `1,000: Non hazardous industries, workshops at 10 kg per day. `5,000: Marriage halls, festival halls, exhibition and fairs with area to 3000 sq.mts. 10%: Increase in rates every year.
