City boys win emerging players tourney in Delhi

Hyderabad boys had mixed luck in the inter-state Emerging Players’ T20 cricket tournament played in New Delhi. While the seniors won the title, the juniors finished runners-up at the event.

The tournament was played among Delhi Developmen­t Authority (DDA), St Lawrence School, Dinesh Verma Cricket Foundation and Emerging Cricketers Developmen­t Group — Hyderabad at the St Lawrence School ground, Geeta Colony and Delhi Developmen­t Authority (DDA) grounds in Dilshad Garden, Tahirpur.

Hyderabad defeated Dinesh Verma Cricket Foundation in the seniors final. After restrictin­g their opponents to 144 for 6, the City boys overhauled the target with six wickets and 4.3 overs to spare. Asif (48) and Ramesh (32) were the top scorers for Hyderabad.

In the juniors final, ECDG found it tough to get past St Lawrence School’s total of 159 for 5 and eventually ended at 143 for 9 in their stipulated overs despite the best efforts of Devesh Daima (51) and Nadeem Khan (46).

BRIEF SCORES Seniors final: Dinesh Verma Cricket Foundation — New Delhi 144 for 6 in 20 overs (Ankur 28, Harsh 42, Ashish 18, Asif 2/12, Dilip 2/27) lost to ECDG — Hyderabad 145 for 4 in 15.3 overs (Asif 48, Ramesh 32).

Juniors final: St Lawrence School — New Delhi 159 for 5 in 20 overs (Aryan 51, Ayush 53, Syed Qursheed 2/25) bt ECDG — Hyderabad 143 for 9 in 20 overs (Devesh Daima 51, Nadeem Khan 46, Ayush 3/21).

Individual prizes (seniors): Asif (best batsman), Sachin (best bowler), Ramesh (best fielder), Dilip (best allrounder), Asif (emerging player).

Individual prizes (juniors): Devesh Daima (best batsman), Goverdhana (best bowler), Sharook (best fielder), Syed Qursheed (best allrounder), Nadeem Khan (emerging player).
