TSRTC chairman Somarapu Satyanarayana and NIT director Prof. G.R.C. Reddy exchanged the MoU copies here on Thursday.

As per the agreement, the NIT would help the RTC improve its efficiency, adapt latest technology and bring down the losses in various wings. The institute would undertake detailed study and research in various wings of the corporation and make suitable recommendations as and when needed.

In turn, the institute would also impart field training to its students and research scholars utilising the resources available with the corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, TSRTC chairman S. Satyanarayana said though the organisation was fuel efficient, the RTC still incurred losses to the tune of `1,000 crore in its operations in Hyderabad city and in rural areas of the state.

“As this is a public sector undertaking and people-oriented, the corporation cannot revise its fare as and when wanted.
