Members of the Hyderabad Association of Cricket Players pose after a get-together at the Gymkhana ground to discuss the directive relevant to the Cricket Players Association as listed by the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee in an attempt to bring in transparency in administration. Former and current cricketers of Hyderabad who comprise the Association of Cricket Players, got together for their annual meeting at the Gymkhana ground to discuss the ramifications of the Justice Lodha Committee that has been set up by the Supreme Court to bring in transparency in cricket administration in the country.

The Cricket Players Association was formed as per the directive of BCCI and consequently the Hyderabad Cricket Association.

Addressing the gathering attended by 34 Ranji Trophy players, Association of Cricket Players president Manohar Sharma said: “Meetings such as this are being arranged since 2002 to facilitate networking between players in an environment of friendship and brotherhood.”

Former Hyderabad captain Vijay Mohan Raj listed out the directive relevant to the Cricket Players Association as listed out from the Lodha Committee report and stressed on the fact that in future there would be an important role for the CPA in running cricketing matters which shall be entirely their responsibility.

As per the directive of the BCCI and HCA under the new norms the process of a new Cricket Players Association had to be initiated for which a Steering Committee is required to be formed that will coordinate with HCA and ensure elections to form an Executive Committee of the CPA that will represent the cause of the players in future.

There were deliberations on this subject and it was clarified that the Steering Committee was only an interim Committee and the role is only until a formal Executive Committee is elected. The purpose is to coordinate with HCA and fulfill this objective.

It was therefore decided that the following members would be on the Steering Committee. M. V. Narasimha Rao, S. L. Venkatpathi Raju, Noel David, Vijay Mohan Raj.

It was also proposed that former Test cricketer and BCCI interim president N. Shivlal Yadav (in absentia) should be invited to the Steering Committee.
