Managements insist on safe driving training

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, DEC. 3

Many companies have now made it mandatory that candidates applying for a job must have a driving licence.

Dr Reddy’s Lab too, makes this rule mandatory.

More often, corporates conduct workshops and talk on the stress relieving topics. Now many have switched to seminars on ‘Road Safety,’ owing to the increasing number of accidents of corporate employees.

Companies in Hyderabad that do not provide transport are serious about candidates having a driver’s license.

Mr Dheerendra Samineni, an expert in road safety said, “Not only are employees working in the sales department being asked for driving license but those at the desk too are being asked. There is a demand by company authorities that they attend road safety training programmes.

In a day-long seminar, employees are taught defensive driving. Companies like CocaCola, Google and Du Pont have conducted several sessions on safety. In fact, Du Pont makes it mandatory for every employee to attend seminars every three months.

According to the expert, the companies that insist on driving license are, Bayers Seeds Private Limited and Dupont. The driver first needs to understand the road scenario. Employees are being taught to drive in difficult conditions like night. Case studies of accidents due to drunk driving, fatigue, destructive driving are discussed too. Real life examples taken from CCTV camera footage of the city traffic department is shown to the employees. The state’s Road Transport Authority too, have started such training sessions in schools and colleges, added Mr Samineni.
