- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, DEC.4

Candidates for the Common Admission Test (CAT) held in two slots (morning and evening) on Sunday, said the exam was a shade tough, while experts felt the difficulty level varied from moderate to tough for different sections.

Krishna Arjun, an M.Tech graduate from IIT-Hyderabad, who got 97 percentile score last year and just missed a seat in the top-5 IIMs, is hopeful of improving his score this time. He, however, said that the paper was more difficult than last year.

Sai Varun, a fresh graduate who appeared for the exam in Anurag Engineering College found the Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning section tested the abilities of candidates. "The paper was tough but I gave it my best shot," he said, adding that his goal is to pursue an MBA.

D.Ravi, a working professional, was writing the exam for the second year in a row. He found the difficulty level on the higher side. Only candidates with good preparation will get a good score, he said.

Srinivas Acharya, National Board Member of the Association of Indian Management Schools said, "More fresh graduates appeared for the exam this year. While attendance was around 85 per cent last year, it is well above 90 per cent this time."

Experts from TIME Institute said the Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning section was very difficult for both afternoon and morning slots.

More than 2.5 lakh students appeared for the exam in 138 cities across the country.
