Passer-by informed school of bleeding girl on road

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD DEC 21

A Class 8 student at Raghava Concept School in Kukatpally fell from the third floor of the school building in suspicious circumstances on Wednesday. The school staff came to know of the incident when passerby informed them that the student, S. Mona, was lying in a pool of blood on the main road beside the building, at about 3 pm.

Her shoes were found on the third floor, leading to suspicion. Her parents did not lodge a complaint with the police. A school staff member, a nearby kirana shop owner and another person rushed her to a hospital.

She was put on ventilator till the evening, and shifted to Rainbow Children’s Hospital for better treatment. Her condition continues to be critical.

Mona was the elder daughter of Sodi Shiva Kumar, a pan trader, and Soni of Jagathgirigutta.

Mr Shiva Kumar said they did not know how Mona fell from the building. “The school staff is clueless and very careless. Till a passerby alerted them, they were not aware and my daughter was lying on the road,” he said and asked for an investigation.

Kukatpally police made a general diary entry of the incident. “We have not yet received the complaint, however we are monitoring the health of the girl in the hospital,” a police officer said. The school terrace had an open area and washrooms, but students seldom used them.

The school has declared Christmas vacations from Thursday, and police said they would not be able to examine other students or school staff.

Balala Hakkula Sangham blamed the school management for its “carelessness” regarding the safety of students and demanded strict action. School officials were not available for comment.
