Street food plan awaits trainees

Hyderabad: Street food vendors have to be trained to comply with guidelines set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India but only a 100 have been identified by the GHMC. A senior food inspector from the GHMC said: “The program is being carried out with 100 registered vendors. The remaining vendors have to be first registered and only then can the program be carried out.” The FSSAI wants municipal authoritie­s to train street food vendors in proper hygiene, while they prepare food. Vendors are also required to keep their surroundin­gs clean.
