41 ambulances for tribal areas

Hyderabad: The government will procure 41 ambulances to cater to maternal and child health in the tribal areas, health minister Dr C. Laxma Reddy said. Fevers and infections were a major threat for pregnant mothers, who do get proper care, he said. “These ambulances will be called 102 and will work on the same lines as 108. They will have trained staff to deal with childbirth. The call centre must be informed 48 hours before the delivery so that there is time to bring the women to the maternity care centre,” he said.
