MAZDA, VISHAL, GEORGE BROTHERS IN TOP GEAR AT AUTOCROSS IN CITY
Vishal Raj from Bangalore and Hyderabad’s Mazdayar Vatcha enthralled the crowds with their high flying precision driving at the Maruti Autocross held at the Sikh Village grounds in Secunderabad.
The Christmas weekend sure had the adrenalin running high among all participants and spectators alike at the 4th round of the Indian National Autocross Championship. The earlier rounds were held at Cochin, Bangalore and Chandigarh.
The event was divided under several categories giving participants the opportunity to showcase their driving skills along with the handling characteristics of the cars. The final task of the Autocross Championship was to complete 1.6 kilometre-long twin track where two cars started racing simultaneously, in the shortest possible time.
Mazdayar drove his Maruti Ciaz brilliantly, dropping many a jaw among the spectators, to win the Maruti Cup (for cars above 1650cc) while Vishal Raj picked up the overall honours with the fastest timing around the twin track course in his Maruti Baleno. Joseph and Antony George, brothers from Kerala, drove all the way to Hyderabad and did a fine job picking up six trophies between them in their Maruti Swift. Amey Desai showed great control over his Maruti Alto and wrapped up the category for cars upto 800cc. Harshita Gowda did very well in her Mitsubishi Cedia to pick up the win beating back the challenge from the other boys in her category. Roopesh, Prashanth a n d Darshan from Bangalore won trophies in various categories while Mandeep Singh and Sachin Singh from Hyderabad swept up the rest. All in all, it was a fantastic platform to get all the racers off the roads and onto a purpose built race track with all safety measures in place. “I am looking forward to more events like this where skills of drivers and riders can be tested while keeping safety paramount,” Mazdayar said after the event.
