The newly-laid road from Malkajgiri to Neredmet is being dug up to install CCTV cameras.

The blocks on the roads have been uprooted and the road remains dug and the debris is spilling over to the roads.

The police is installing the cameras as a pilot of the community CCTV project.

“There is a lot of dust all over and we are sprinkling water in front of our shops to avoid it. A few have installed plastic curtains, but not everyone can really afford them, said Mr Sk Mansoor a shop-owner at Malkajgiri.

Main roads and junctions will be covered in the first phase, said Mr Arvind Kumar, site engineer of L&T, which has been given the project. “We are installing these cameras after taking permission from the police.”

He said the project would be completed in a month.
