CASES MOVE OUT OF NILOUFER

-

Hyderabad: More than 15 cases have been referred from the Niloufer Hospital to Nayapul maternity hospital for health follow-ups and also deliveries as the hospital has been shut down. On February 7, there were seven cases and on February 8, there have been 8 cases referred to the other hospital. Four cases were also referred to the Maternity Hospital at Koti as pregnant mothers who came for regular check-ups found that Niloufer hospital had been shut. Ameena Begum, a mother in her third trimester said: “It is very difficult for me to travel to Nayapul in this state. This is a hospital which is close by to my residence in Nampally. They must arrange for alternate arrangements.” Also, for most of the patients, traveling to other hospitals in the city is turning out to be a rather expensive matter and many, used to care at Niloufer hospital — are struggle with the directions to the other hospitals. A senior doctor said: “There is a need for a proper channel to guide the patients after the shutdown. There are many of them who are also skipping their regular health check-ups and it’s important to tell them to come again once the hospital’s maternal unit restarts. Meanwhile, the State Human Rights Commission has sent a notice to the principal secretary health, director of health and medical education and superintendent at Nilofuer hospital regarding the maternal deaths in Nilofuer hospital over the past eight days. The rights commission has also taken into account the protests by the relatives of the patients — the complaints of lack of blood in the hospital blood bank, and allegations surrounding surgeries being carried out junior doctors. The commission has demanded that a proper report on the same must be submitted by the government on February 27 to the commission.
