RAIDERS TAKE TROPHY

- DC CORRESPONDENT

The journey for the ‘men in red’ has been no less than a fairytale. The Ranga Reddy Raiders continued their dominance in the final to outclass Gadwal Gladiators and clinch the title in the debut season of the Telangana Premier Kabaddi League that was played at the Dr B.R. Ambedakar Stadium in Karimnagar.

The Raiders went all guns blazing at the Gladiators to crush their hopes of the title in the first half which ended 16-9 in the favour of Raiders.

In the second half too the Gladiators could only manage to fetch 8 points in comparison to the Raiders who cruised to take the trophy with an emphatic 3717 verdict.

As always the tactics of Munnesh from Ranga Reddy Raiders and skills helped him earn the Best Raider award followed by his teammate Neelersh who was adjudged the Best Defender.

In the match for the third place, furious Hyderabad Bulls who faltered in semifinals, against runners-up Gadwal Gladiators, were in no mood to miss the opportunity to take something home.

With a 15-point lead in the second half, the Hyderabad Bulls swept aside Gladiators with a thumping score of 37-22.

The first half of the match was in the winning team’s favour as the Stallions did give a bit of competition. However, their efforts went in vain as the Bulls secured a 19-11 victory.

Vishnu, whose maximum numbers of successful raids fetched crucial points for the Bulls, was named the Best Raider of the match while Mahinder Reddy, whose brilliant defence scuttled the opponents’ strategy, was adjudged the Best Defender of the match.
