- DC CORRESPONDENT

The Chairman of Sports Authority of Telangana State has written to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart to take the students belonging to Andhra Pradesh back from the Telangana State Sports School in Hakimpet (Hyderabad) and the Regional Sports School in Karimnagar.

“There are 116 students belonging to Andhra Pradesh studying in these two schools. Many of them would like to go back to continue the studies in the sports schools of Andhra Pradesh,” A. Venkateshwar Reddy wrote to the Vice Chairman & Managing Director of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh attaching the list of students from AP in both schools.

“Now that the academic year is coming to close, it is the right time to take the children back so that they can pursue further studies in Andhra Pradesh,” Mr Reddy wrote.

“We request you to kindly send an emissary urgently to talk to the students in these two schools and to make necessary arrangements to take them back. An early action is highly appreciated,” the letter read.

Asked if there was politics involved in the move, Mr Reddy told this newspaper: “Not one bit. I had visited the two schools and interacted with the girls and boys there. They want to go back to their places and were in tears.”

Basketballers, judokas, athletes, wrestlers, gymnasts and swimmers are among the 28 boys and girls from Andhra Pradesh who are studying in different classes — from VII to IX at the RSS in Karimnagar.

The State Sports School in Hakimpet has 98 students in classes VII to XII from Kurnool, Kadapa, Prakasam, Vizag, Chittoor, Srikakulam, Nellore, East as well as West Godavari.
