The police has busted two gangs which used to rob passengers who hire share autos near major bus stations in the city. The gangs operate autorickshaws near MGBS, CBS and Dilsukhnagar bus stands late in the night and early morning.

Some of the gangsters pretend to be passengers and get inside the autorickshaws with the victims. Later, they rob them and push them out of the autorickshaw. The gangs included two minor boys. Police said the gangs were involved in a dozen offenses including attempt to murder.

The first gang’s members are Subbair Ali, 25, an auto driver from Rein Bazaar, Syed Basheer, 19, from Edi Bazaar, Shaik Sameer, 20, from Yakutpura and a minor boy.

Police said the gang robbed a medical representative in the early hours of February 7.

“The victim, M. Kanaka Raju, boarded a share auto at MGBS bus station to go to Golnaka. On the way, the auto driver drove towards Wahednagar bridge. The other passengers, who were in the auto pretending to be passengers, threatened him with a knife and snatched his bag containing `16,000 and a mobile phone. He was later pushed out of the running autorickshaw,” said task force additional DCP N. Koti Reddy.

Police said that one of the gangsters, Subbair Ali, was involved in an attempt to murder case in Madannapet earlier.

The second gang’s members are Shaik Sameer, 20, Mohd Shahabaz, a student, Syed Asif, 19, and a minor boy. Police said this gang robbed a person from AP when he boarded a share auto from CBS bus station to go to Uppuguda.

“The gang drove the auto to Fateh Darwaza, assaulted the man, and took `20,000, a mobile phone and a silver bracelet. The same night, they robbed another person from Nalgonda and grabbed his phone and `8,000,” the additional DCP said.
