Dabeerpura hospital is not very patient-friendly

The government hospital in Dabeerpura, famously known as the TB hospital, lies in a neglected state with no proper maintenance of the out patient (OP) ward. Instead of the regular 8am to 2pm timings, it operates from 10am to 12 pm, which is an inconvenience for many patients.

There are around 10-15 TB patients arriving daily while the OP ward gets around 40-50 patients. The services offered to TB patients are comparatively better than the ones to outpatients because the services offered in OP block are pretty poor compared to other government hospitals, said Mr. Amjadullah Khan.

He added, “Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mahmood Ali promised to renovate the hospital and raise its level on par with private hospitals. He also assured that many facilities would be provided from his personal funds, but nothing has changed.”

The staff at the hospital is often seen misbehaving with patients and their families. “Nobody is allowed inside after 12 pm, which is a violation of rules,” noted Mr. Khan.

The hospital looks haunted. There are more stray dogs than patients, said Mr. Md. Saleem a resident of Dabeerpura.

Ms. Sayeeda, also a resident of Dabeerpura, said, “I took my ill son to the hospital and the nurse on duty gave me medicines as the on-duty doctor was unavailable. His temperature kept rising. I took him to the hospital after two days. The doctor said they could only give us the medicines they had with them. If we wanted better treatment then he suggested I take my child to a private hospital."

No hospital authorities were available for comment.
