Probe cop’s rant, DGP told
DCP accused of abusing HC
The Hyderabad High Court on Friday directed the TS DGP to inquire into allegation against Peddapally deputy commissioner of police abusing the High Court and submit a report before the court in two weeks.
Justice P. Naveen Rao was dealing with a petition by P.V. Nagamani, an advocate, and Gattu Krishna Rao, a retired teacher of Peddapally district, to declare as illegal the failure of the state government, DGP and Peddapally police commissioner to take disciplinary action against the DCP for his illegal acts and insulting and defaming the High Court and its judges by uttering un-parliamentary language towards them.
M.V. Rajaram, counsel for the petitioners, submitted that the petitioners had approached the Peddapally police commissioner after they received threatening letters from Singareni Karmika Samakhya that is affiliated to prohibited extremists Maoists group, with a request to take necessary action against the culprits.
He told the court the commissioner endorsed the representation of the petitioners to Peddapally DCP asking to take action on their representation. The petitioners then visited the office of the DCP who abused them and also uttered abusive words against the High Court and its judges.
Reacting to the submissions, the judge asked the DGP to inquire into the matter and submit a report.
