The police is probing the Margadarshini Co-operative Housing Society scam in which the management sold plots illegally. Members of the society were not allotted prime plots in Bowenpally. Around 4.36 acres of land worth crores was swindled. Police arrested the prime accused in the case and released him on station bail as he had got a stay on his arrest from the High Court.

Police said one G. Chandrashekar, a businessman from Secunderabad, lodged a complaint with the court and a court referral case was filed at the Begumpet police station.

Mr Chandrashekar in his complaint said that Margadarshini Co-operative Housing Society had purchased 4.36 acres in Rasoolpura.

He said that he and the other members divided it into 48 plots. 34 of the plots have buildings now. He alleged that president C. Rajender Kumar, sold the plots to third parties for crores. The people staying in the buildings are not members of the society.

“He is also a member of Hyderabad ULC ECCS Limited and registered society land in his nephew P. Santosh’s name in 2005. In 2008, he allotted a plot to another relative P. Sampath. In this way, he allotted plots to his relatives and cheated the original members,” the complainant said. The complainant, Mr Chandrashekar, said that by allotting plots to his relatives, C. Rajender Kumar cheated members of the society. The profits were shared by Rajender Kumar and P. Santosh Kumar, A.V. Raghavender Rao and C.V.T. Shyam Prasad.

A cheating case was registered and a notice was served on C. Rajender Kumar on February 17 to appear for inquiry.

Police said they are investigating the role of the other suspects named in the case.
