10-YEAR-OLD GIRL SEXUALLY ATTACKED BY UNIDENTIFIED MEN

-

A 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by two individuals on several occasions last month. The last incident happened on February 16 at NBT Nagar in Banjara Hills and came to light when the girl informed her parents about this last week.

The parents approached the Banjara Hills police on Thursday and lodged a complaint.

“The girl was lured and taken to a secluded house by the two suspects while she was coming back from her sister’s school in NBT Nagar. The girl said the suspects kissed and groped her. It happened three times in the last one month. The girl told her parents about this on March 18. We are waiting for medical reports to assess the case and take a decision,” said Banjara Hills sub inspector B. Dayakar Reddy.

Based on preliminary information, the police booked a criminal case against the unknown offenders under Section 354-A (Wrongful confinement of a person) and 376511 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 7 of Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. The parents of Master Sannihit Reddy approached Balala Hakkula Sangham to appeal to the ministry of education and take action against the chief superintendent of the school, and to provide them medical expenses for treating Sannihit.

Sannihit, a Class X student of Bhashyam School, was writing the SSC examination at the Vidya Dayini Model School in Santoshnagar. He jumped from the third floor of the school building fearing that he would be booked for malpractice.

The 15-year-old was injured seriously and is undergoing treatment at the Apollo DRDL Hospital. Doctors have suggested a major surgery for the boy.

“As the incident occurred at the examination centre please direct the education department to meet the medical expenses of the child,” wrote Balala Hakkula Sangham’s president Anuradha Rao to the deputy chief minister and education minister, Kadiyam Srihari. Anuradha Rao also wrote to the police alleging that “The chief superintendent was present during the exam and failed in providing care to the child.” The departmental officer and MEO should also be held responsible, said Anuradha Rao.
