Kapil Chits helped Vaman spread his wings wider

K. Vaman Rao, the chief of the Kapil Group, was trained as a chartered accountant. He establishe­d the chit fund business 31 years ago and is founder-director of Kapil Chit Funds Private Limited.

Kapil Chit Funds Private Limited is the flagship company of the Kapil Group.

The Group has interests in different sectors, through about 30 companies, including HMTV.

Kapil Chit Funds was incorporat­ed under the Companies Act in 1981 and has grown to be one of the largest registered chit fund companies in the country, with more than 400 branches, and an annual chit auction turnover of nearly ` 3,700 crore.

The Kapil Group has many other businesses: print and electronic media (Hans India and HMTV under Hyderabad Media House group), developmen­t of lay-out for residentia­l/commercial buildings, constructi­on, hotels, service apartments, nonbanking financial institutio­n, informatio­n technology, bakery (factories), printing press, corporate insurance agency, health & wellness therapy centres, an Ayurvedic hospital, cancer hospital (nonprofit), horticultu­re, dairy, poultry, telecom infrastruc­ture services, travel agency, overseas money transfer agents, distributi­on of home/office appliances and others.
