WOMAN GETS TALAQ AS BIRTHDAY GIFT

-

A Hyderabadi woman was given talaq as a birthday gift after she refused to have sex with her father-in-law. The woman, Sumaina Sharfi, a resident of Lallaguda, married Owais Talib of Begumpet in 2015. After the marriage, she came to know that her husband’s guardian, Himmat Khatun alias Siraj, 55, (Amma Jaan) who conducted their marriage, does black magic. A month later she went to Dubai with her husband and returned. Her husband left her at her in-laws’ house and went back to Dubai.

“After we returned they made me work like a servant and did not even give me adequate food. After a few days she asked me to have sexual intercourse with her second husband Adil Ali Khan and become a surrogate mother by giving birth to his child,” Sumaina said.

“When I refused and informed my husband about this, he asked me to do as Amma Jaan says. I refused again and they started torturing me and kept me locked in a room for six days. My father came to Amma Jaan's place and took me home when they expelled me from their residence,” added the victim. Sumaina tried to contact her husband’s family many times in an attempt to settle things but that was in vain.

“After a few days, she got a WhatsApp message from her husband saying talaq, talaq talaq in November 2016. “Talaq, talaq, talaq. This is my verdict!. Kisko laati, jisko batati, Sabko bolna hai bolde, Kiksa baap kya Karta, main bhi ab meri baat nahi badaltu!! Yahi chahri na tu! Awari!!. Le de dediya tereko tera Birthday

gift! (Bring whomever you want. Tell whomever you want. I will see whose father will come and I will also not change my decision. This is what you wanted. Take it, I have given you your birthday gift)” the message said.

Sumaina claimed that her husband who is now in Dubai have confined her sister also.

“I am worried about my sister who is in their confinement since months now. We have not heard from her ever since. I request the authorities to bring my sister back safely.”

In March, we lodged a complaint against Himmat Khatoon, her husband, in-laws and other relatives. Based on the complaint the Sanathnagar police booked a case under Sections 420, 406, 506 of IPC on March 16. Police found that she had filed a harassment case which is now pending with Hyderabad CCS. Police said that she had lodged a complaint stating that the accused cheated her.
