The residents of Moghulpura are facing serious problems due to non-clearance of garbage since 10 days. The bins in the lanes are full and are not being emptied, while the bins near Charminar are in the same condition.
Abdul Naseer, a resident of Moghulpura, said, “The garbage in the area has not been lifted for over a week. The bins are full near the water tank and the stench in the areas is heavy. GHMC workers used to lift the garbage everyday but they do not come regularly now. Despite our complaints, nobody is helping solve our problems.”
He added, “Recently, the Moghulpura sports complex was inaugurated by the M&UD minister. At that time, the entire area was cleaned up. From the next day, however, not a single worker came in to lift the garbage. The saddest part is, these bins are placed at the junction near the water tank.”
Kareem Ansari, a social worker, said, “The area witnessed a lot of activity before the minister cam to open the sports complex. The lanes were all clean for a day or two. Then, life was back to square one, with all the garbage boxes piling up and the entire lanes having unbearable stench. The lackadaisical attitude of the authorities is leading to all these problems.”
“Whenever we want to go and complain at the circle office about the garbage issues, or any other issues, officials don’t pay heed to our complaints. If the government is serious about attending to our problems, then we urge the M&UD minister to make a surprise visit to our area and see for himself the problems of the Old City,” noted the social worker.
