MJ TECH COLLEGE IN ‘NO ADMISSIONS’ CATEGORY

SUES in neck-deep trouble as per complaint filed by Nizam’s kin

- DC CORRESPONDENT

The professional colleges being run by the Sultan-ul-Uloom Educational Society (SUES) are neck-deep in trouble following the complaint filed by the Nizam’s kin against the society over illegal possession of 24 acres in Banjara Hills which belongs to Muazzam Jah Trust.

The Standing Appeal Committee (SAC) of AICTE has recommended placing Muffakham Jah Engineering College in the ‘No admission’ category for the ensuing 2017-18 academic year. The other two colleges that run from the same premises —Amjad Ali Khan College of Business Administration and Sultan-ul-Uloom Colleges of Pharmacy – were recommended to be placed in the ‘Withdrawal of approval’ category on the grounds of the society not having land ownership document to run the colleges as prescribed in the AICTE norms.

The engineering college, which is one of the oldest private engineering colleges in the city affiliated to Osmania University and one among the top-10 colleges in the state — has been running from 1981.

The other two colleges were set up later.

The AICTE has written to the Telangana government to implement the orders.

The engineering college has been given three months to submit a land ownership deed in the society’s favour or face withdrawal of approval, since it was established prior to setting up of AICET, while the other two colleges were not given any time as they were established after AICTE was constituted through an Act of Parliament.

The AICTE letter dated April 29, 2017 was sent to the director/ prinicipal of the business college and a copy was marked to AICET regional officer, Masab Tank, secretary/chairman of SUES, TS director of technical education and registrar of OU.

There are over 11,000 students enrolled in various institutions run by the Society established in 1980.

Spread over a sprawling 24-acre campus in the heart of the city in Banjara Hills, the complex houses, Muffakham Jah College of Engineering & Technology, Ghulam Ahmed College of Education, Amjad Ali Khan College of Business Administration, Sultanul-Uloom College of Law, Sultan-ul-Uloom College of Pharmacy, Sultan-ul-Uloom Junior College and Sultan-ulUloom Public School, Sultan-ul-Uloom School (Falaknuma branch), Sultan-ul-Uloom School (Syed Ali Chabutra branch) and Sultan-ulUloom School (Golkonda branch).
